bohemian garden quilt top

Welcome to finish it up Friday! Last week I had a great finishing week. This one has been quite the opposite! Not a finish in sight...just a whole lot of messes. I guess that's the way it goes. :)

I finished my bohemian garden quilt top last week, but never got around to sharing it yet. Many thanks to my friend Pam for naming this one. And many thanks to my friend Brianne for being my quilt holder and for pulling the fabric. The pieces are cut 4 1/2" x 12 1/2". I thought it was a nice size to showcase some of the larger prints.
I was intending to make a rail fence quilt, but when I was working on the lay out I just wasn't feeling it. When I placed them in columns, I liked it much better! So....columns it is. It's not uncommon for my quilts to change direction mid-stream. That's what keeps quilting interesting!

Hopefully you've had a better finishing week than I had. :) Please link up your finishes and thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!

I love it in columns! Great choice :)

Lovely quilt top. I did exactly the same this week. I started off doing a Rail Fence but it wasn't doing anything for me, so I cut my blocks diagonally in pairs and then sewed them back together along the diagonal. Much better now.

Pretty fabrics! It's good when you are able to go with the flow...

I like your usage of 'mess' because that is exactly what my sewing room looks like when I'm in the middle of a brainstorming quilt adventure! it just made me smile. have a great weekend. -April@Little Mama Hen

The name definitely suits it :) Great colors!

Love the name of the quilt. I often find that projects change direction a bit while I'm working on them. A lot of the time it depends on the fabric and how much of it I have. As in the laptop zip pouch that I made this week.

Thanks for hosting again this week. It's fun to see everyone's finishes.

Wow this is a different palette than what I have seen you do. I love the jewel colours. I so agree with you, Rail fence just did not do it for this.

Both layouts look nice! I am attracted to the rail fence layout { I just finished one in that layout a few weeks back}. No quilting, handmade bags for me this week. Just finish some baby spring outfits. Hope spring is on your way.. or is in your place~ Cold here in ND and still lots of snow on the ground. happy weekending

It's a beautiful quilt. The columnar layout is very strong and the colors are lovely.

i pretty much ALWAYS switch gears in the middle of a quilt, lol. It does make the process more fun when you just kind of make it up as you go along. i adore the new layout for your quilt, it's fabulous.

Very pretty. I like the columns too. I should break out some of my hoarded AMH and do something like this--it really is stunning.
