dot your i's quilt top

Welcome to finish it up Friday!

This weekend I'm hanging out and sewing with my friends for our annual Gruber's quilt retreat. This is year 7 (!!!) and it keeps getting better and better. I've appreciated having the time to sew and laugh with my friends and sew some more. I'm super excited, because it gave me time to finish up my "dot your i's" quilt top! I started this project exactly one year ago. I'm thrilled to have it in quilt top form. Already!
There are a total of 396 hand stitched squircles in this quilt. I used Carolyn Friedlander's needle turn applique method that she shares in her book Savor Each Stitch. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of making this quilt! It measures about 63" x 77". It's an instant favorite! I'm looking forward to spending more time with it (hahaha!) as I hand quilt it. I do love a good long term project!

Now, it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thank you for joining me for finish it up Friday!

Lovely! That is really a lot of hand stitching--396 squares! It was worth it, though, because the quilt turned out great. Have fun with the hand quilting!

A beautiful quilt made all the more special by the length of time it's taken and the memories sewn in.

I love it! And I must ask...WHAT is your quilt top hanging on? It does not look like normal pickup gate...

That quilt is gorgeous. I've been seeing some of them around the internet. Everyone seems to want to make them in mass like yours - and I agree it's the best look. Thank you for sharing it...I'm inspired to make one!!

Hi Amanda,
This quilt looks like the perfect hand sewing project for me to work on while hubs & I are on our 95 day US road trip. I have ordered Carolyn's book so I can learn the technique. Would you tell me how large your circles were at the start? I'd like to get them prepped. I leave Monday. :)
Have a great retreat!

Congratulations! You inspired me to start two Dot Your i's projects! One is a quilt, the other a crocheted afghan for my fourth grand baby! Thank you!

Very cute and I know exactly where that picture was taken, too. :) I don't have the patience for needle turn appliqué. I commend you.
